It also allowed each room to play a different style of music, with the smaller of the two rooms – known as Kaleidoscope – concentrating on dance music. In early 1991, Kaleidoscope closed for refurbishment, the early stages of which are shown here. This was taken from the top-end of the room, nearest to the club’s main foyer and reception area, looking down over what would become the dancefloor, new DJ booth, and larger of the room’s two bars. The photos Refurbishment 011 and 017 were taken from roughly the same spot as work progressed. February 1991
