Photographed a few days after Kaleidoscope reopened to the public following its refurbishment, this shows the view from the bottom end of the room and was taken from alongside the DJ booth; Laser Bar is behind the camera. In the distance, on the left-hand edge of the photo, the ‘Kaleidoscope’ sign behind Neon Bar is just discernible. The main doors out into reception are to the right of the bar, and standing in front of them, at the top of the steps down to the dance floor, the black-suited figure of General Manager Peter Smith can be seen checking everything is ready before opening the doors to the paying punters.March 1991; image taken by David Newby.
