Springfield Mill, Guide. rnMoorland weaving mill, built c1860, possibly by Henry Worthington and Co. Booth, Munroe and Booth had acquired the mill by 1865. Mathias Munroe eventually became sole owner. M Munroe and Sons Ltd, formed 1906. 1946 the company was taken over by a firm of Manchester merchant convertors, with the Emelas Mig Co. Ltd, running part of the mill. Weaving ended 1958. Later used for carpet manufacture. Demolished. Remains, small disused reservoir in field to south.rnMike Rothwell
