Lion Brewery 004
Lion Brewery, Little Harwood Brewery Co. Ltd, was formed in 1875. It was bought by Alfred Nuttall in 1892. In 1927 it was once again taken over by Matthew Brown Co. Ltd. By the 1980 the brewery had 608 public houses. Matthew Brown was the subject of a hostile takeover in 1987 by Scottish & Newcastle Breweries Ltd. and ceased brewing in 1991
