Bastfield Mill 002
b22979. Bastfield mill was built in 1862-63 by James Astley and stands on the banks of the river Blakewater. Astley closed the shed in 1878 and sold it to William Almond and Co. The mill was leased to E & G Hindle in 1885. Automatic looms were introduced in the 1930. E & G Hindle ceased trading in 1959 and the mill shut. The buildings are now used by "Ovalworld", supliers of decorating materials. M. 31 Bas.
