b04666. The Town Hall Tower Block under construction. The cost of the project at the time was £650,000. The old Town Hall and tower block are connected by an elevated, enclosed footbridge. The tower block is about 198 feet (60 m) high with the top being 545 feet (166 m) 9 inches (23 cm) above sea-level. Since it was built it has been totally re-clad. The cladding is well under way on this photograph. The Market and Duttons Brewery can been seen at the bottom left. Date 1st August 1968. D. 52.
