Peppermint Place Refurbishment 029

img0602-030P. The smaller of the two rooms within Peppermint Place had carried the name Kaleidoscope for many years by the time it closed for refurbishment in early 1991. However, the name not just of the room itself but also the two bars within it were retained post refurb. This is Laser Bar, which was at the far end of Kaleidoscope from the club’s main entrance. A small room in the corner next to the bar housed the equipment for the laser after which the bar was named. Even in 1991, it was the club’s proud boast that it was the only UK nightclub outside London with a five-colour laser. Image taken March 1991 by David Newby.
