Peppermint Place Refurbishment 001
img0528-026P. Peppermint Place was two separate clubs under the same roof. Each was largely self-contained, with its own bars, DJs, and dancefloors, allowing each room to play distinctive styles of music. It also meant that one room could remain open if the other was closed for any reason. The smaller of the two – Kaleidoscope – closed for a complete refurbishment in early 1991. Seen here is the site of what would become the larger of the room’s two bars, known as Laser Bar. This was at the far end, furthest from the club’s main foyer and reception area. The photographs Refurbishment 012 and 019 were taken from the same spot as work progressed.
