Imperial Mill 002
b22653. Imperial Mill, built 1900-01 was the only purpose built spinning mill in the town. The architect was Sydney Stott and it cost £120,000. By 1906-07 It had 90,000 Howard and Bullough ring spindles. When spinning ceased in 1980 there were 33,000 spindles and 307 employees. This photograph was taken in 1970. M. 31 Imp .
