Mr Richard (Dick) Hodgson, Swimmer, Olympian and Water Polo. Born 1892 in Blackburn, died 1968, Blackburn. From a famous swimming Family His father was the first man in Blackburn to swim 60 yards in 60 seconds. His brother John played water polo for Manchester while another brother Fred was the chief constable of Salford and was also a notable water polo player. Richard was captain of the Blackburn amature Swimmimg Club and served on the Lancashire Water Polo Association and in 1922 was appointed their president. He became chef coach to the Northern Counties water polo team in 1947.BT000024
