b05156. Steam engine at E. and G. Hindle, Bastfield Mill, Blackburn. It is a horizontal cross compound engine. Made by William and John Yates, Blackburn. Made c1870s. It is 20 1/4in 34 1/4in by 4ft Slide valve Cylinders and is 700 h.p 48 1/2 r.p.m. 130 p.s.i. The engine was scrapped in 1961 when the factory was shut. Date of photograph 1959. M. 209.
