Wood Street Mill Darwen.rnStarted in 1970, by Thomas Kitchen, formally shift manager of Barley Bank Street Mill. The buildings at Wood Street had previously belonged to the Co-operative Society. Thomas Kitchen installed 20 looms and began to weave industrial fabrics. A second company, Metax, was subsequently formed to manufature dust sheets. During the early years of the business commission weaving for Jack Walsh (Holden Haworth Limited) was undertaken. By the early 1980's Metax and T.W.
