Whiteley's Mill 009
Fifty ton engine flywheel that turned 8600 revolutions per day at the George Whitley Ewood mill. Sold for scrap in 1951 as the factory modernised. Automatic looms were installed after the war. The mill, now owned by the Birtwistle Group, finally ceased production in 1975 as the decline of Blackburn's once proud textile industry continued apace.
