Unity Mill Darwen 001

b22945. Unity Mill, Lower Darwen was built in 1905 by the Lower Darwen Mill Investment Co. Ltd. The mill was designed by Sames and Green, Blackburn. By 1911 there were 1022 looms. Weaving ended in 1975 and it was taken over by a kitchen furniture manufacturer. The photograph shows Kingston Place with the loading bay, below the window is a cast iron beam dated 1905, it was taken 18 December 1980.
