St. Stephen's Tockholes 007
1938 image of St. Stephen's Church, Tockholes. A church (or chapel of ease) is claimed to have existed in medieval times. The foundation stone for this church was laid on 23rd February 1832 and the church cost £2400 to build, and had sittings for 804 people. The church was demolished in the 1960s after discovery of extensive dry rot which had penetrated the roof and walls. A new church was built in 1965.
