Sunnuhurst Mill Darwen 001
Sunnyhurst Mill Darwen.rnThe last weaving mill to be built in Darwen, erected 1913 by the Sunnyhurst Mill Company Limited, a firm formed by a group of Great Harwood and Rishton residents. The Sunnyhurst Mill Company Limited closed the mill in 1959 under the Cotton Industry Act, and in 1960, Herbert Parkinson Limited, of Orchard Mill took over. 138 automatic looms, to weave jacquard furnishings and dress brocades, were installed in the shed, which was renamed Harvest Mill. The mill remains in production, weaving high quality fabrics for the John Lewis Partnership (of which it is a member_) and for the general furnishing trade.rnMike Rothwell
