b05611. St John's Tavern Ainsworth Street. Once known to the locals as the Gaping Goose. It is one of the oldest pubs in Blackburn, with reports going back to 1790's. The old pub, which stood on the corner of Ainsworth Street and Union Street was knocked down in the 1960's and rebuilt on Ainsworth Street as part of the 3 day Market. It was a Thwaites house.
