Mill Hill Mill 001
Mill Hill Mill, on Mill Hill Street. Demolished about 1970. Originally built as a printworks, the mill had 49,000 mule and 'throstle' spindles and 934 looms by the 1880s, according to Rothwell (Industrial Heritge, Blackburn). In this image the weaving shed has been already demolished as part of the liquidation of the Lancashire textile industry that had been underway since the end of the Great War. Demolition of the spinning mill was imminent. The cleared site became a vehicle scrapyard and is now occupied by housing.
