Jubilee Mill, Jubilee Street 001

Jubilee Mill, Jubilee Street, Blackburn. Spinning Mill, built in 1822 close to the Jubilee Brewery by Bannister Eccles and Co. Known as the "Dandy Factory" Extensions added during the 1830's. In 1841 John Eccles became the sole owner. A fire in 1842 destroyed half of the seven storey spinning mill, production continued in the remaining building. rnLeased in 1845 to John Brggs. Between 1857-59 the mill was closed, sold to James Beads. Beads failed in 1866 as a result of the cotton famine. The mill was completed demolished 1868-69. Remains none, the site occupied by the telephone exchange and the former palace cinema. The factory is recalled by Dandy walk, which runs to the North of the present Building. rnMike Rothwellrn
