Hedges Boots and Shoes of Market Street, Darwen. The advertisement, which is postcard size, claims their wares give 'General Satisfaction'. The Generals enlisted in support of the Hedges advertisement were well-known from the recent South Africa (Boer) War. What the Generals might have thought about their (presumably) involuntary enlistment is unknown.
