Hacking Hall 003

Hackin or Hacking Hall in Billington, early C17rnsituated at the confluence of the rivers Calder and Ribble in Lancashire. Grade 1 listed building.rnIt is thought that J.R.R. Tolken (Lord of the Rings) may have taken inspiration from the ferry here for the Bucklberry Ferry over the Brandywine river in his book, as it was still operational when Tolken visited nearby Stonyhurst College.
