Florence Mill 009
This Mill was built by William Birtwistle and named after his daughter. Its nick-name was ""Average"" because at the mill entrance was a notice which read; ""We expect a good average"". It was erected in 1889-90 and had 514 Lancashire looms. these were replaced in 1925 by automatic looms. Weaving ended at the mill in 1971.rnMike Rothwell
