Cicely Bridge Mill 015
1988. Cicely Bridge Mill (John Bayne's), remains of the lower weaving shed. In the 1960s, to help the mill to modernise, and with Government assistance, this shed was equipped with Belgian-made Picanol looms. In 1983 however, the mill closed as the once mighty Lancashire cotton industry, now lacking essential Government support, found it increasingly difficult to compete with textile imports from countries enjoying much lower labour costs.rnDemolished in 1996, the site is now occupied by housing.
