Burmah Mill, Gladstone Street. Micah Birtwistle's weaving mill of 1886-87. Birtwistle was the son of William, senior, Stanley Mill and father of the founder of William Birtwistle, Allied Mills. Let to Cobden Street Manufacturing co Ltd with 468 looms.The mill mainly wove dhooties for the Indian trade. amalgamated with Alexander Mill Co Ltd 1928 and closed 1932-33rnsubsequently purchased by Fountain Yarn Dyers of Carluke Street.
