Blackburn Savings Bank 001
b05593. The Blackburn Savings bank opened on the afternoon of Saturday March 7, 1818 for two hours. The bank was re-established under better management in 1831 and after being held in the Assembly Room in Heaton Street for some years it moved to premises in Clayton Street, were business was carried on until 1863. Three of the second floor windows seen in the photograph, include the one counting house, to which a separate entrance was made from the street. M. 91 Bla.
