b05891, b23787. The new Market Square. This is a genral view, taken from Victoria Street, and gives a good idea of the proportions of the fine Market House. This was designed by Terence Flanagan, and erected in 1848, after the style of an early Italian Palazzo. The size of the building is 180 ft. by 109 ft. the framework and supports of the roof being made of iron, manufactured at Yate's Foundry. Date of photograph 1954. M. 83.
