Alma Mill 006
Built in 1859 by Thomas Carr and James Leaver. After Carr's bankruptcy the mill was leased to John Baynes, 1866-74. sold to Hartley Brothers in 1875 and owned until after the 2nd World War. Dean Holt and Co Ltd, took over in 1949, installing 192 Northrops. Later Alma Mill Ltd, manufactured dress fabrics and shirtings. In 1959-60 the shed was purchased by J. Woodrow and Sons Ltd for towling manufacture. Later Henry, Franc and Lauder Ltd. closed 1975 due to heavy losses.
