Albert Mill.rnA four storey mule spinning mill erected 1874-76 by the Albert Spinning Company Limited, a joint-stock venture launched by J.T Kenyon of Whitehall Mill, W.T Ashton,Hope Mill, J.Couldhurst, engineer and ironfounder, and others. In 1920 the company was reconstituted as the Albert Spinning and Manufacturing Company Limited, a name which took account of the firm's weaving operation at Southend Mill. Spinning ceased in 1931 and the business went into voluntary liquidation. The main body of the factory was later demolished. Since 1946 the site has been used by metal merchants, and for a short time by the Albert Mill Foundry Company. Now the Site of John Barnes skips.rnMike Rothwell
