Unity Mill Lower Darwen rnBuilt in 1905 by the Lower Darwen Mill Investment Co. Ltd., a mill building company formed by Benjamin Baron and others. The shed was designed by James and Green, Blackburn. Enlarged 1907. The mill was leased to J and L Ward of Fisher Street. J and L Ward, ceased manufacturing in 1959 and in 1960 the shed was reopened by William Birtwistle, Allied Mills, Weaving finally ended in 1975. Kitchen furniture manufacturers have since occupied the mill. rnMike Rothwell
