Tackfield Mill, Sough, DarwenrnBuilt in 1854 by Thomas Blackburn, John Harwood, George Briggs and William Walsh who failed in 1857. The shed was leased to Nicholls and Ashton of Hope Mill who were running 223 looms in 1861.rnAfter 1867 the mill was worked by a number of firms. amongst them the Tackfield Weaving Company, employing 84 operatives in 1878, and H.Bell and Company.rnIn 1894 the owners, R.S and W Entwistle , sold the mill to Joseph Rawlinson and Company. The shed was enlarged to hold 320 looms and the engine reconstructed by R and T Tootal. of Crown Street, Darwen. The mill passed to the Industry Mill Company in 1908 and W and A Turner, the last manufacturers at the site, in 1912 Liquidation took place in 1929 and the machinery was sold off.rnMike Rothwell.
