John Michael Shaw, seen here with his wife Patricia. They married in 1965 at Revidge Fold United Reform Church. Born in Blackpool in 1940, Michael moved to Blackburn as a child where he attended Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School. On leaving school in 1957, Michael joined the council’s housing department, under R P Spibey, and became a senior administrative officer with responsibility for the Little Harwood, Lammack and Deganwy avenue estates. After working in Hull for a couple of years, Michael moved back to Lancashire to take up a post as deputy housing manager to Preston Town Council.
