This image of Salford properties was taken in 1879. Owned by Daniel Thwaites, the properties were proposed for demolition in the Blackburn Improvement Bill of 1879. The image shows the rear of the properties. Numbers have been added to the photograph to identify the properties. The people in the image are presumably the inhabitants. The privy (lavatory) would have been used by multiple households at the time.
