Peel's Arms 001
Peel's Arms public house at Salford. Seen here in this image as 'Leach's Peel's Arms. First open in 1858. William Leach was the first tenant, from 1858 - 1870. Mrs Nancy Leach is recorded as tenant from 1874 to 1881, although she may have taken over the pub following the possible death of William in 1870. In the background can be seen Starkie Street Foundry. According to Worden&Whalley 'Blackburn in Old Picture Postcards' the shops were demolished shortly after 1879. In the Barratt's Blackburn Directory of 1900, the Peel's Arms is listed as no. 39 Salford, with Robert Hindle as Tenant.
