b05592. Old Bank, France Street in the process of demolition. The bank opened on Saturday, 7 March 1818. It is the traditional home of the first local savings bank. It's first trustees were Rev. Thomas Starkie, J. and W. Feilden, John Hornby, John Fowden-Hindle, J.F. Butler and Joseph Birley. It's first actuary was Joseph Messenger. The photograph shows the apse of St Anne's R.C.
