New Inn 004
New Inn public house on Victoria Street. Image taken around 1952. The pub was demolished in September 1954 to make way for the new Littlewoods Store, which in turn fell victim to the hammers of demolition in less than a generation. rnAlso seen in the distance is the much loved Market Hall Clock, soon also to undergo the indignity of the demolition hammer. John Forbes, another much remembered Blackburn business, re-located to Northgate.rnA public house was first open on the site in 1793 and was re-built as the New Inn in 1890.
