Moss Street School 002
Moss Street School. Built for Blackburn School Board in order to provide much needed additional accommodation in Trinity Ward. Opened in 1881, the school quickly became oversubscribed and had to be extended. Teaching standards were generally rated good. The school charged fees so as not to compete with Church schools, where fees were also charged. The school was replaced in 1971 by Daisyfield School, built to the rear, and which can be seen at the right hand edge of the image. rn
