Holme Street which ran from Salford to Ainsworth Street. The start of New Water Street can also be seen. The River Blakewater runs to the right of the image. The Kirtlan Dining Rooms (owned by Richard Kirtlan), as advertised on the short gable end wall, were located at no. 6 Ainsworth Street, according to Barratt's 1884 Blackburn Directory.
