Hartley, J H 001
John Henry Hartley was educated at Blackburn Grammar School. After being connected with his father's business for some time he and his brother acquired Alma mill, Audley, under the name of Hartley Bros.rnIn 1902 Mr Hartley entered the town council as a Conservative for Park Ward and he held the seat until he retired in 1914. After he had been on the council twelve months, he was elected mayor. rnA generous supporter of the Church of England, Mr Hartley died at his home, Beardwood Bank, Preston New Road, in August 1942.
