Gladstone Mill 001
Gladstone Mill, built c 1855 as a shuttle works, part leased to John Halliwell , power loom manufacturer. After 1856 Henry Fish also occupied part of the building. Weaving shed added 1858-59. By 1861 J and W Halliwell were operating 140 looms. Various tenants during 1860's and 1870's. St.Paul's Mill Co.Ltd took over 1882. George Duckworth and James Eddleston, partners of the Whalley New Road Manufaturing Co.Ltd had ceased trading by 1927. Buildings converted to non-textile use. rnMike Rothwell.
