Feniscowles Hall 008
Feniscowles Hall. Originally built for the Feilden family it was abandoned due to the proximity to the River Darwen which, in the days before sewage was captured and treated, had become literally an open sewer running with the effluvia discharged up river in Blackburn. By this time, with the River Darwen now relatively clean, the old Hall had become a pleasure garden. The children in the image look well dressed so the photograph was probably taken on Sunday.
