b06017.The Statue of Flora in Corporation Park was erected in 1871. Sculptor was Thomas Allen, a native of Liverpool who settled in Blackburn and worked on other buildings in the Borough.rnFlora was presented to the town by monumental mason Thomas Hartley Fairhurst in 1871.rnFlora was transported on the back of a horse and cart from the Bastwell Monumental Works to Corporation Park and there she still stands 149 years later.rnThomas Allen died in 1922 at Cedar Mount, Cedar Street, Blackburn aged 77 years.
