b23786. Blackburn Old Market Place, Church street, Darwen Street. Seen from the site of the Old Bull, (demolished in 1949) The policeman is standing on the spot where stood the old market cross, the fate of which unsure. It was probably erected by John de Lacy during the reign of Henry I, ( see article Blackburn Market Cross). rnOn the left corner with Darwen street is "The old Bank", (now Lloyds) and on the right corner with King William street is "Burtons Mens Wear," (now part of the Mall.
