Anchor Mill Weaving Shed 001
Anchor Mill.rnWeaving mill built 1900-01 by John Catlow and Sons of Olive Mill. 720 looms powered by an Ashton, Frost and Company Ltd horizontal cross-compound engine. The mill wove for the India trade and was one of the five Darwen weaving sheds worked by Catlows. Manufacturing ended in 1930 and in 1932 Catlows sold the buildings to J.H.G Wiesters, a London based Swiss tie merchant, and H.R Wiesbrod, who had connections with Wiesbrod-Zurrer, silk tie manufacturers of Switzerland.rnMike Rothwell.
