Bargees 001
Early twentieth century image of bargees (canal boatmen) posing outside the rear door of the Navigation Inn, which still stands close to the canal. The lady pouring the beer is the landlady. Many of the bargees lived on Angela Street, which runs behind the pub, and in the surrounding area.
