Blackburn Railway Station 001

The site of Blackburn’s original railway station can still be seen off Bolton Road. The town’s first railway station was opened in 1846 during the ‘Railway Mania’ decade. The Blackburn and Preston Railway was soon taken over by the East Lancashire Railway Company, which in turn was absorbed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company. Blackburn’s railway station was subsequently re-located to its present site in the town centre
