Blackburn Academy 001

The Blackburn Academy was established to train young men for the nonconformist Christian ministry. In 1843, the Academy re-located to Whalley Range, Manchester and became the Lancashire Independent College. rnThe present whereabouts of the plaque is unknown. It appears to have been installed on the Ainsworth Street building that housed the Academy, and later positioned at the same location when the market and shopping mall was built in the 1960s.
