Selling the Goods: Textile Distribution
You can produce the finest goods in the world, but if you can't get them to your customers, all your efforts wasted. Early communications in the county relied on footpaths and packhorse routes. Waggons and stagecoaches arrived later, but had to contend with the dreadful conditions of the roads, until the turnpike system was established.
It wasn't until the arrival of the canals and later the railways that reliable means of transporting goods and raw materials in bulk were available.
