Cherry Tree, Blackburn

This view is actually of Feniscliffe rather than Cherry Tree, as the Shaws have described it. Looking down Feniscliffe Brow it shows the houses on Preston Old Road which would have been newly built at the time of the photo. The field at the right was to become the site of Scapa Dyers who manufactured felts for the paper making industries. The firm, which has undergone several takeovers and name changes is now known as Voith Fabrics. The photo gives a clear view of the tramlines on the route from Cherry Tree to Redlam. The Church in the background is St. Philip's.
