Time Travel Journeys...
What was it like? That's the question. What was it like to be alive in Blackburn and Darwen all those centuries ago? What was it like to be a child playing on the dirt floor of a cottage with the clack of the handloom and the cluck of the hens that ranged freely in and out of the open door? What was it like to feel the heat of the burning Clayton Grange on your face and be one of the mob that had fired it? What was it like to sit listening to the solemn ticking of the clock, when behind it was the telegram informing you that your son had been killed in action?
All the books, all the maps, all the photographs in the world can't tell you what it was really like. They can't take you back there. They can't take you back in time, or can they? With their help and a little imagination we're going to try and do just that. We're going to embark on some journeys into the past; learning journeys, but don't let that word learning put you off. Yes there'll be some tough questions, but get them right or get them wrong, you'll be finding out, you'll be delving into the past. We're not sending you back there on your own. You'll be accompanied on each journey by authentic figures, men and women who might have been your own ancestors, your own great great grandparents.
