Downham Old Hall, Downham, Ribble Valley
The Assheton Family have been Lords of Downham since 1558. The present head of the family is Lord Clitheroe, who resides at Downham Hall, a more recent structure than this. As Downham still retains its old world charm, it has is used regularly for period dramas such as the 1960's film "Whistle Down the Wind" and more recently as the village of "Ormston" in the popular BBC series "Born and Bred".
